HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — Nearly nine years after a pregnant 21 year old woman disappeared from the Orlando area, investigators are once again asking the public for help uncovering what happened to her.
Stevencia Barlatier was last seen in November 2017. Months later, her body was discovered in a rural area of eastern Hernando County, leaving investigators with a homicide case that remains unsolved.
Now, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is renewing its appeal for information, hoping someone may remember a detail that could help detectives piece together the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death.
A Disappearance That Began in Orlando
According to information released by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, October 26, 2026, Barlatier was last seen on November 25, 2017, at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Her last reported location was a Publix supermarket at 1500 East Colonial Drive in Orlando.
Barlatier, who was 21 years old at the time, had been living in the Orlando area. Investigators said she was pregnant when she disappeared.
After relatives in Collier County reported her missing, the search for answers eventually became a homicide investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Barlatier’s body was recovered months later in a rural area on the eastern side of Hernando County.
Authorities have not specified the exact location where her remains were recovered in their latest public announcement.
Investigators Revisit the Final Known Hours
Detectives have released details about Barlatier’s appearance when she was last seen, information that could help someone recognize her or recall an encounter from November 2017.
According to investigators, she was wearing a blue or green top, black leggings, and a black hooded jacket.
She was also carrying a pink patterned backpack and holding a blue garment, possibly a sweater.
The Sheriff’s Office identified Barlatier as Haitian and said she had been in a relationship with a Haitian man whose child she was carrying at the time of her disappearance.
Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or announced an arrest in connection with the homicide in their latest release.
Investigators are particularly interested in learning more about Barlatier’s activities, the people she associated with, and where she may have traveled on or after November 25, 2017.
Nearly Nine Years Later, Questions Remain
The passage of time has not eliminated the possibility that someone may hold information relevant to the investigation.
Barlatier disappeared just four days before what would have been her 22nd birthday.
Her body was eventually recovered in Hernando County, well outside the Orlando area where she was last reported seen.
The Sheriff’s Office has not disclosed her cause of death, the exact date her body was recovered, or what investigators believe happened between her last reported sighting and the discovery of her remains in its October 26 announcement.
Officials have also not indicated whether new evidence prompted the renewed public appeal.
For now, investigators are asking anyone who may have encountered Barlatier or knows something about her movements during that period to come forward.
Even information that may initially appear insignificant could help detectives better understand the events surrounding her disappearance.
